Project Title\\

Seen

This is a project I was asked to do by the Cheraw Arts Commission. They will have an art auction to raise money for their organization. Numerous artist will have work displayed. It is an honor to be offered a position.

The title of this piece is Seen.

I made this piece to show that everyone is important. Everyone is equal. From the homeless person sitting in front of a 24-hour gas station to the President of the United States of America. We all matter, we all should be noticed and we all should be SEEN for who we really are.

The next time you are tempted to judge someone by their appearance, stop and think about what type of life they may have experienced up until now, what pain they may suffered through — and hurts they hold inside. You are no better than them and they are no better than you.

About the Piece

8″ x 10″ canvas with a thin layer of epoxy resin. I painted on top of that layer to give a slight shadow on top of the canvas. I then added a thicker layer of resin to lock the paint in place. The bottom layer actually turned out thinner than expected, so the shadow isn’t as prominent as I would like it. The finished product still looks great. The farther away you are the clearer the eyes appear and the closer you get the less obvious it is.
